![]() ![]() ![]() Not as bright as the Olds Super Recording but has a very dense dark tone with a undescribable core to the sound due to the sterling silver lead pipe and the solid German silver tone ring, this Holton is a bit heavier than other Stratodynes.Ĭomes with original case in OK condition, Original Holton mouthpiece (not heim), Bach MT Vernon 7C and 7D mouthpieces and a beat up vintage wah wah mute. Plays a bit like a Olds Super Recording but with a more "Holton Core" to the overtones. Overall great condition for a rarer Stratodyne. The valve plating is great, the valve compression is very good for the age (loud pop when you move the slides and hit the corresponding valve). The art decoish bell engraving with sun beams and Holton Stratodyne designation is original and untouched under the darkened original lacquer. Some discoloration/redening slightly in some areas. Original lacquer is 97ish percent with some pitting on 3rd slide and on nickel silver trim. This Stratodyne has a different reverse material trim then many other Stratodynes of the same vintage and has a STERLING SILVER lead pipe as well as nickel silver tone ring with floral engraving on the bell flare. This is a rarer Holton Stratodyne from 1953 and I purchased this recently from BAC Horn Doctor on eBay. ![]()
